Europe Sustainable Development Report 2026

The Europe Sustainable Development Report 2026 (ESDR 2026) provides an independent quantitative assessment of the progress of the European Union, its member states and partner countries on the SDGs. The seventh edition of the ESDR shows that progress on SDGs has stalled in Europe, with declining political prioritization of the SDGs by EU leadership. The report features a foreword by Ambassador David Donoghue and other expert contributions on SDG priorities for Europe ahead.

The report assesses the progress of 41 countries on the SDGs: EU member states, European Free Trade Area (EFTA) countries, candidate countries, and the UK. This year, Finland, Sweden and Denmark top the rankings. In addition to overall scores, we also feature a special spillover index and Leave-No-One-Behind index.
